About Probiotics

Probiotics are the "good friendly" bacteria that naturally live in the human body, helping it function properly, stay healthy and effectively fight diseases. The relationship between humans and probiotics is symbiotic: we provide them with food and they produce valuable substances that support digestion and our immune system.

Flora probiotics contain important human cultures that colonise the digestive tract, have documented health benefits and are recognised as safe (GRAS). They are uniquely developed to survive in the digestive system, settle and colonise the mucous membranes, and be as effective as possible for the body's wellbeing.

The 6 Probiotic Cultures

Super Adult Microbiota contains 2 Bifidobacterium cultures for the large intestine and 4 Lactobacillus cultures for the small intestine, acting synergistically to promote digestive health and maintain natural microflora.

Lactobacillus casei HA-108 – Breaks down carbohydrates, inhibits pathogenic bacteria in the small intestine, studied for antimicrobial properties and its role in cellular immunity. Research shows high concentrations may benefit diabetics.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus HA-111 – One of the most studied probiotics. Highly resistant to bile salts and gastric acids. Beneficial against bacteria involved in vaginal and urinary infections. Activates the small intestine walls to produce a protective mucus layer. Particularly effective against rotavirus-induced diarrhoea and gastroenteritis.

Lactobacillus acidophilus HA-122 – Produces lactic acid that inhibits pathogens such as Salmonella, Shigella and E. Coli, as well as natural antibiotics that enhance immune functions. Reduces lactose intolerance, boosts immunity, lowers cholesterol levels and cancer risk.

Lactobacillus plantarum HA-119 – Plant-origin bacterium that secretes the naturally produced antibiotic lactolin. Studied for effectiveness against allergies, cancers and irritable bowel syndrome.

Bifidobacterium bifidum HA-132 – Found mainly in the large intestine. Produces B vitamins, aids absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium and other nutrients. Produces lactic and acetic acid that lower intestinal pH and prevent unfriendly bacteria from growing. Improves immunological and anti-inflammatory functions.

Bifidobacterium breve HA-129 – Colonises the large intestine, produces lactic and acetic acids that inhibit unwanted bacteria. Enhances immune responses against various pathogens and has been shown to suppress the growth of ulcer-causing bacteria.

Probiotic Cultures – Composition

Ingredients

Each vegetarian capsule contains a guaranteed minimum of 17 billion live cells at time of manufacture and 12.5 billion at expiry date (2 years after manufacture).

Excipients: Ascorbic acid, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, potato starch, hypromellose (capsule).

Directions & Suggested Use

• Take 1 capsule daily with food to maintain healthy intestinal flora.
• Take 3 capsules daily with food to restore healthy intestinal flora.

Useful Tips

• Take probiotics at least 4 hours apart from any antibiotic.
• Take with a full stomach (more alkaline pH).
• Capsules can be opened and the contents mixed with food or water (not hot).
• Tip: Brush your teeth at night with the contents of one capsule (without drinking water) — the probiotics will colonise the entire digestive tract from mouth to intestine.

Storage

Store in the refrigerator. If left unrefrigerated, the probiotic population may decrease by up to 10% per month. Refrigeration guarantees maximum potency and effectiveness. The product can safely remain unrefrigerated for a few days (e.g. when travelling). It may also be frozen once to extend shelf life.

Precautions

• This product has come into contact with milk and soy lecithin. Do not use if you have an allergy to milk or soy.
• Discontinue use and consult a doctor if digestive symptoms (e.g. diarrhoea) appear, worsen or persist for more than 3 days.
• Do not use if you have nausea, fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhoea or severe abdominal pain.
• Do not use if you are immunocompromised (e.g. AIDS, lymphoma, long-term corticosteroid use).
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
• This product is not intended for the prevention, treatment or cure of human disease. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication or have health problems.
